Chevron Corporation is an American oil company founded in 1911 in California, after the dissolution of Standard Oil trust, under the name of Standard Oil of California. Over a period of more than forty years, John D. Rockefeller led Standard Oil to become the largest company in the world for a long time.
It has important oil and natural gas deposits, oil refineries and oil tankers. Due to its volume of sales (US $ 27,342 million) in 1983, it ranked eleventh among the world’s largest industrial companies in the market economy.
